General Questions
What is bandwidth and how much do you provide?
Bandwidth is the amount of data your website can transfer per month. For example if someone downloads a 15mb file from your website, you have used 15mb of bandwidth. Every month the bandwidth counter will reset.
Each plan has bandwidth limitation, for example our lowest plan "Squeeze plan" comes with 100Gb of bandwidth per month.
How much bandwidth will I need for my site?
Data (Bandwidth) Transfer = Your average page size (including graphics!) multiplied by the number of page views in a month. For example if you have an average page size of 100 KB, and around 1000 page views
per day, you will transfer an average of 3 GB per month.
Do you put adverts on hosted websites?
No. We do not to plaster advertisements all over your websites like some of our competitors. All pages of your website will be advert-free.
I have Windows XP on my computer can I still use linux web hosting?
Your operating system does not matter when selecting a plan. Most of the time, the webserver is transparent to the user.
I require email hosting what plan should I get?
Any of our web hosting plans come with email hosting, this includes pop3/IMAP and webmail.
Are your servers located in Singapore or overseas?
Our Servers are 100% located in Singapore Datacentres. We also have a full redundancy plan to divert to our datacentre in Australia if we have any countrywide outage.
Does my account have a web-based control panel?
Yes, all accounts come with a web-based control panel which allows you to manage any aspects of your account such as creating mySQL Database, setup a new email account and setup Microsoft FrontPage extensions.
We use only the finest Control panel. Cpanel 11 + Fantastico.
What is an Add-on domain?
An addon domain is a fully functional domain that can be created from within your control panel. Think of it as having multiple hosting packages all sharing the same control panel. You can give them email addresses, forwarders, and more the same way you do for your main domain on the account.
What is Domain Parking?
Parked domain names are domain names that point to an existing domain name. They do not use any disc space they just simply point or "redirect" to an existing domain name.
What is the difference between a domain and a subdomain?
A domain is your own personal online web address (www.yourname.com), which you must register with a domain registration service through limebox or through another registar.
A Sub-Domain (www.yourname.yourdomainname.com), allows you to have the benefit of a unique name on the Internet without domain name registration fees. Sub-domains receive the same features and benefits as our true virtual domain hosting accounts.
Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?
Yes. You have unlimited access via your control panel and/or FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.
How do I transfer files to my web site?
Files may be transferred using Cpanel (File Manager) or you may transfer files to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP). If you need a FTP Program, visit http://www.smartftp.com We recommend Smartftp or Cuteftp.
Sales Questions
Do I need to have a domain name to set up a hosting account with Limebox?
Yes, you need to have a domain name in order to set up an account with us.
You can purchase a new domain name from another registrar or register your new domain name with us during the signup process. If you already have a domain name, you can transfer your existing domain name to limebox.com.sg nameservers.
How long does it take for my domain name to resolve?
After you register a new domain name or modify the nameservers of the domain name to point to limebox.com.sg's nameservers, it typically takes between 24 and 72 hours for the information on the domain name to propagate to all the root DNS servers. It takes some time to propagate to other databases. This is called the "propagation" period.
During the propagation, if your domain name was hosted at another hosting company before moving it to us, some people will access your site located at the old hosting company, while other people may access your site located at limebox.
Please note this is under the control of the registry and we do not have any abilities to make this change happen faster.
How long does it take to setup a new hosting account?
5 Minutes or less. If paying by credit card or paypal, your account will be set up as soon as we receive your payment. If you are paying via Bank transfer you will need to allow funds transfer time.
What types of files can I use for the home page?
You can use the following types of files for your home page: index.htm, index.html, index.php, index.phtml, index.shtml, index.php3, default.htm, default.html, default.phtml, default.php, and default.php3
Can I have FrontPage Extensions in my account?
Yes, we support Microsoft FrontPage Extensions. It comes standard on all our cpanel plans.
Can I have more than one hosting account?
Yes, you can have more than one hosting account. All your hosting accounts will be listed in your Client area under "My Accounts" section.
I am currently hosted with someone else can you transfer my files onto my limebox account?
Yes, We will transfer all files from your old account free of charge, Just simply add a ticket once you sign up with your old webhosting control details and we will transfer the content across.
Do you host international domain names?
Yes, we do host international domain names. When you have registered the domain name, you can simply point the domain name to your new hosting account by modifying the name servers.
What databases do you currently support?
We currently support MySQL databases in our UNIX accounts. MySQL is very fast, reliable, and easy to use. MySQL was originally developed to handle very large databases much faster than existing solutions and has been successfully used in highly demanding production environments for several years. Though under constant development, MySQL today offers a rich and very useful set of functions. The connectivity, speed, and security make MySQL highly suited for accessing databases on the Internet.
Will I be able to access my domain name with or without "www"?
Yes, you will be able to access your domain name with or without "www". For example, you can access "limebox.com.sg" via "limebox.com.sg" or "www.limebox.com.sg"
Do you support ASP?
At the moment, we do not support ASP.
Do you monitor your servers?
Yes we use Nagios Server Monitoring Software to monitor our machines round the clock. All machines are checked for performance every minute and corrective action is taken instantly if a drop of service occurs.
Do you backup my website?
We back up your data on separate hard drives locally and internationally which maintains the integrity of the back up.
Do you allow telnet / SSH access?
We do not allow Telnet however jailed SSH is available on our Business plan.
What version of PHP do you use?
We use PHP 5 +
Can I purchase additional Databases?
Yes , 1 Add-on DB is $1.50 per month , 2 Add-on DB is $2.90 per month.
What version of Apache do you use?
We use Apache 2 +
Do you offer web site design services?
Yes, Please contact us with your requirements and one of our designers will get back to you.
Billing
What contracts and payment terms are available?
Monthly, 12-month and 24-month contracts are available for hosting accounts.
We provide a full refund for hosting account within the 30-day money back guarantee period. Beyond the 30-day money back guarantee, we do not provide refunds for unused days or months.
Cancellation requests should be sent via the Client area by opening a ticket. If you are moving to a new host, please be sure to transfer all your files to the new host before requesting for cancellation.
Domain name registration fees and charges for additional services (if requested by you) are non-refundable.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept some credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), Paypal and Singapore Bank Transfer.
What currency is your prices in?
All our pricing is quoted in Singapore Dollars (SGD) we do not refer any costs in US.
My bank is DBS, POSB (Any Singapore Bank) can I transfer funds via ATM?
Sure! We currently have a Business OCBC account. Once you have signed up for our services on the top right of your invoice (Sent via email) will be our banking details. You can transfer via ATM, Online banking or pop into any OCBC bank to pay your invoice.
How do you send invoices?
We currently send invoices via email. We do not send paper invoices to your home address. You can view all your invoices online via your Client area
Can I upgrade from one plan to another? Is there a fee to upgrade?
You can upgrade from one plan to another at anytime via your Client Area. There are never any upgrading fees. You only pay the difference between your old account and your new account.
